Long-awaited, but perfectly timed, my debut book "Sisters During Rocky Times" arrives this Sunday, August 3! 

For those of you who have been following me here or on social media, this is the last step in my self-publishing journey; I am releasing my book into the world for family and friends to enjoy! Purchasing "Sisters During Rocky Times" for yourself and the sister who's seen you at your best and your mess is the perfect way to celebrate your sister relationship!

For those just learning about “Sisters During Rocky Times,” this is an art book filled with my watercolor illustrations and my words. A tale of my spiritual sisterhood journey with my darling sister, Tamara, "Sisters During Rocky Times" is meant to be a touchstone for all grown-up Black girls and our sister-allies who cherish their sister relationships, by blood or bond.

It seemed a good time to bring this story to light because we are all living in rocky times. In truth, for Black women, when have we not lived in challenging times? Throughout the decades to the present day, we have consistently found ways not only to bring joy to one another but also to lift each other up, be there for each other, and buoy one another to higher heights. My sister Tamara and I do this almost every morning. 

The setting in my book is in nature because, for me, Mother Nature is where I find the Divine. I've repeated this time after time: I understand that the natural world—not the material one man has created—was and is God's church, temple, synagogue, and ashram. The Divine is birdsong at dawn, leaves bristling in the breeze and fireflies lighting up a summer night's sky. Every little and big part of nature is evidence of God in our presence.

I start my mornings watching or being in nature, journaling, meditating and being very still so I can let God. Then, Tamara calls me on her way to work and we share our hopes and dreams for our day.

This book is my invitation to you: remember throughout your day that our Almighty, the Father and Mother of the Cosmos, our life-giving connection to nature and our sisterhood relationships can bring you through rocky times!
